Fiji Fashion Week Launches September Show

02 August, 2016

Fiji Fashion Week, the largest single event of its kind in the Pacific, last night launched and announced the full programme for its 9th consecutive show to be in September from 5-10th at Suva’s Vodafone Arena. The show was scheduled to take place on May 11 but Fiji Fashion Week deferred to September following the devastation of Fiji’s Tropical Cyclone Winston.

The Fiji Fashion Week includes a week of educational and social events culminating in three nights of designer shows. The International Resort Wear show usually held later in the year will merge with FJFW in September.
Thirty designers including a select number of international designers will present their 2016 collections to media, buyers, celebrities and the public at the Fiji Fashion Week Runway.

“Fiji Fashion Week show is also the only platform of its kind operating sustainably anywhere in the Pacific and has been pivotal in spearheading similar events in this region,” said Ms. Ellen Whippy-Knight, Managing Director, Fiji Fashion Week.

“We take very seriously the responsibility of promoting fashion designs from this country. We know this task, though thankless, is appreciated by many creative people of this country. We have created jobs and other commercial opportunities leading to export within and around the fledgling Fiji Fashion industry.”

“At the end of the day, what we are is a Trade Show of products Made in Fiji by Fijians. We hope that more corporate partners will come on board and support this event so the creative young people of our country have a bright future to look forward to, whatever their talents may be.”

Local and international designers confirmed to show are:

Aarti Dee, Anton Conway Wye, Aekta Lodhiya, Alipate Sowane, Birima Mbanye, Bou Fonua, Fashion Flaunt, Grace Ellen, Hani Haring, Hupfield Hoerder, Ilai Jikoiono, Mesake Nacola & Rosie Isaac, Joana Prasad, Jyoti Singh, Epeli Tuibeqa, Moira Solvalu, Heather Crossingham, Paris Nasaroa, Paulina Alone, Rachel Fairfax, Rako, Robert Kennedy, Robert Verebasaga, Rosie Semisi, Salt & Bear, Samal Singh, Seewa Seth, Shannen Azuredee, Vagaya and Zulfikar Ali.
