A Timely Boost
MORE than 300 Tagaqe District School students in Sigatoka were reminded of the importance of education and of the efforts put in by those involved in their upbringing.
After being given 3800 free exercise books by Epic Investment co-owners Craig and Delamare Evette, the students began their first year of school with rejuvenated energy.
Mrs Evette said the gifts were part of their social responsibility efforts after setting up their service station and supermarket business not far from the school.
"When we started our business, we saw the need for us to contribute to the education of the Korolevu-i-Wai district, which has four villages with more than 8000 people," she said.
"We feel that education is a key factor in making sure that the future generations of these part of the Coral Coast are on their way to a better future.
"We wanted to be able to give back to the community that has welcomed us and allowed to invest in their beautiful environment."
Mr Evette said the gifts also complemented the free textbook initiative offered by the Government this year.
"This year, children can truly enjoy their school life without having to worry about costs of their books and even school fees."
