FJFW will hold its final model audition next month.

All potential models between sizes eight and 16 are being invited to audition at the Fiji Museum in Suva on July 22 at 2pm.

This was confirmed earlier this week by the organisation's managing director, Ellen Whippy-Knight, who said fashion in Fiji had taken "wonderful and exciting turns in the past few weeks".

"One of our models, Phillipa Steele, was signed up by Trump Model Management out of New York City, one of our emerging designers is featuring in the next two weeks at the world Full Figured Fashion Week to be held in New York City. And then this Fijian girl Venina from New South Wales is the first girl from our islands to feature in Australia's own Miss World contest," Mrs Whippy-Knight said.

"We have seen exciting developments in the industry, which is bringing attention to our shores.

"FJFW has worked with numerous organisations in Fiji in the past six years to bring this much needed attention to the country as it holds opportunities for development."

All interested participants are being encouraged to take part even if it is their first time.

FJFW is set to be held on October 5 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Meanwhile, FJFW managing director Ellen Whippy-Knight said the annual event helped local designers realise their ambitions and turn their passions and talents into viable economic opportunities.

"I am so proud of what we have all done and I would like to extend the invitation for you to join us by entering your designs," Mrs Whippy-Knight said through the organisation's website.
