FIJI Fashion Week has for the first time been invited to take part in the Los Angeles Fashion Show where 10 top local designers will get a chance to showcase their talents with the theme Resort Wear.

FJFW managing director Ellen Whippy-Knight said the invitation to take part in this event on October 11 was a massive exposure for Fiji being a tourist destination.

"I'm allowed to take designers to LA on October 11. It's rare to get such offers. Those designers will really showcase Fiji," she said.

"They have a whole week of fashion and the last show will be the FJFW fashion show.

"This is a massive push for FJFW as well as for Fiji and for the designers order and LA being the home of Hollywood and people love Fiji."

Mrs Whippy-Knight said they were still reaching out to sponsors because it would cost them US$20,000 ($F42,900) to compete in the show.

"We are not charging the designers at all. This $20,000 is for the venue, your show, audio and sound, production and the red carpet and everything and this is really cheap.

"This is a very big move for us because all those sitting in front of us are potential buyers for our designers clothes.
