FJFW Ends on High Note

FOUR MEN and a young girl  took out top honours at this Fiji Fashion Week as the annual event finally came to a close on Monday 22nd October.


Prominent local designers Hupfled Hoerder, Aisea Konrote Fostino and Andrew Powellwalked  won the TRIBE Pacific Designer of the Year, LICI Established Designer of the Year and MHCC Emerging Designer of the Year Awards respectively. Powell, who is currently completing Business management studies in Australia to round off his Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design also won Overall Designer of the Year Award.


FJFW Managing Director, Ellen Whippy-Knight said this years event was the best ever and had attracted the best Fiji and PAcific designers as well as the most international designers ever.


"This is one of the finest shows and the response on the opening two nights has been awesome and I am looking forward to another big crowd on the final night tomorrow where all our emerging designers will display their creativity," said Whippy-Knight.


"The future of the fashion industry in Fiji is certainly looking bright and with the establishment of the Fiji Fashion Council under the chairmanship of Mark Halabe, things are falling on track.
