DESPITE the hype of the Hong Kong 7s, more than 100 people turned up to witness the launching of Shaziah Acraman's Fijian fusion evening wear collection last Saturday.
The collection was launched during the 2012 Fiji flood appeal fashion show last Saturday.
Charity show organiser Kajaal Kumar said people were delighted with the designs presented as collection featured from evening, street, casual and modern wear.
"We had a great turnout and people enjoyed the show. The highlight of the show was the launching of the fusion evening wear and also the display of Diva Dungeon online boutique and Kingdom Closet," Ms Kumar said.
"We hope to have more successful shows in the future with more sponsors and public response as this show is for a worthy cause.
"I would like to thank our partners College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Diva Dungeon online boutique, International Deco Expert, Yuth Media and Events, Kingdom Closet, YBJ Collection (Yolla Johns) Glamour Modelling Agency, Skitz Pro Sound and Stage Lighting's & Protecting Our Children in Fiji Network."
Meanwhile, $600 was raised from the charity show and will be presented to the Ministry of Health to purchase mosquito nets and water purifiers to prevent the spread of communicable disease like typhoid, leptospirosis and dengue fever.
"We will have our presentation on Tuesday (tomorrow) with the Ministry of Health and the money collected will go directly into the ministry's account as they have already identified areas that need our assistance," Ms Kumar said.
"We feel that there is a need to assist the children in the flood affected areas and that was the whole idea behind the show. We believe we can host another successful charity show in time to come.
"We work in different areas and our network consists of 520 people. Our campaign is under the banner of Protecting Our Children in Fiji Network. We work in different areas of child protection and child development in Fiji," she said.
