NEGATIVITY won't stop Laisiasa Davetawalu from joining the FJFW Student Designer Show this year.

The Year 11 student of Sigatoka Methodist College is on a journey to prove his passion for fashion is where he wants his career to head; this was made possible by the encouragement of his Home Economics teacher, Ms Prasad.

Davetawalu's love for designing drove him to join the show and it paid off when he was chosen, along with three student designers, to receive a $300 grant by the Australian Government to help with preparations for the show.

"I am excited and looking forward to the show," Davetawalu said.

He previously attended Queen Victoria School before moving to Sigatoka to study Clothing and Textile at Sigatoka Methodist College.

"I wanted to focus on fashion designing and take the subject as they have it in Sigatoka Methodist and not QVS," he said.

The aspiring designer will take part in the Student Designing Show at 11am on May 30 at the Vodafone Arena at Laucala Bay in Suva.

Tickets can be purchased at the FJFW Office at 72 McGregor Rd.

Davetawalu's Paradise collection was inspired by the clouds and sea that consists of beadings which took him four days to complete.

The Student Designer Show will be at 11am on May 30 at the Vodafone Arena at Laucala Bay in Suva.
