US city New Orleans in Louisiana has been the inspiration behind established designer Hupfeld Hoerder's bridal collection for this year's Fiji Fashion Week.

Nicknamed "The Big Easy", New Orleans has been the inspiration behind some of the world's best Blues legends such as Earl King and Champion Jack Dupree.

So it was no surprise the established designer found the same for his bridal collection when he visited there early this year.

"Definitely my trip to New Orleans in the US captured inspiration of the early settlers who were the French and the Spanish inquisition in the early 17th century with the plums and the beading and the mardi gras celebration" said Hoerder.

Hoerder's bridal collection last year was well received by the fashion community and his business continues to grow.

"Exclusive designs are custom-made garments for the bridal market so my 'big clients' would basically be for this market and gauging on last year's business performance, I would have to say I am happy with business."

Hoerder added his resort wear collection would have a smart casual look with tropical colours and earthy pallets blended with a modern touch of accessories to compliment the garments.

FJFW15 kicks off on May 25 and tickets can be purchased at the FJFW office at 72 McGregor Rd.
