The theme is opulent and the atmosphere will be grand, quite indicative of what MHCC FJFW 2013 will be like.

Fiji Fashion Week managing director Ellen Whippy-Knight made the remarks while describing her company's next show: The Master Designers Fashion Show.

The show, scheduled Saturday at the Suva Civic Centre, replaces the annual FJFW launch and will feature works by Fiji greats such as Robert Kennedy and Aisea Konrote among others who make up Ms Whippy-Knight's favourite local designers.

"I have many favourites and my event organisers wouldn't let me fit them all into one show so I've had to reduce the selection. People will just have to come to see everyone at the MHCC FJFW 2013. In essence though, these 10 designers showing on Saturday are masters."

The lineup is Aisea Konrote, Robert Kennedy, Hupfeld Hoerder, Naziah Ali, Robert Verebasaga, Lana Smith, Jean Ragg, Rachel Fairfax and Exotica (Elaine Taylor/Zelda Thomas).

"Preparations for my new collection are complete and my theme is The Grand Pacific," Robert Kennedy said.

"I have been inspired by early 20th century photographers in Fiji such as my own great-grandfather L. N. Anderson.

"My prints also capture the natural landscapes, flora and striking colours of Fiji," Mr Kennedy said.

"I am honored to have been chosen by Ellen. She is a remarkable person who has changed the face of fashion in Fiji and I am proud to be associated with her and FJFW."

FJFW 2012 Best Established Designer, Aisea Konrote is raring to release his new collection called "The Fijian Gatsby".

"It's a new exciting and stylish collection that oozes sensuality and elegance of evening wear inspired by the movie The Great Gatsby," Mr Konrote said.

FJFW new event manager Atelaite Cama, whose achievements includes bringing huge international acts like UB40 and the Soweto Gospel Choir to Fiji, said her team was a passionate group dedicated to showing the world that Fiji could stage events of international acclaim.

"The FJFW crew are a different sort of individuals.

"When your goal is something bigger than yourselves and your vision ambitious, the results are outstanding."
